OVERVIEW:
Adolaize is an outpatient behavioral health agency that provides services and resources to adolescents and those who serve them. Though we have specialized programs for adolescents, we provide therapy for families, couples, and individuals of all ages. Our name comes from the merger of the two words, adolescent and liaise, with an emphasis on building relationships to foster emotional wellness.
Adolaize was established to specifically focus on the unique needs of adolescents in foster care, however we do so much more! We assist with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, self-esteem building, coping and interpersonal skills, crisis and post-trauma (i.e. community violence), child neglect/abuse, foster care, life transitions, domestic violence, homelessness, and chronic psychiatric diagnoses, such as spectrum disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, and personality disorders.
GOALS:
Adolaize will engage students in small SKILLS BUILDING groups designed to build empathy, enhance self-esteem development, decrease negative judgement between peers, normalize giving respect over justifying reasons to be disrespectful, increase acceptance of responsibility for one’s actions, learn lessons from mistakes, appropriately discuss differences and build tolerance, acknowledge the sacrifices elders have made on their behalf, normalize provision of praise & appreciation to peers and adults, and so much more.
Adolaize will meet with students in need of individual or group counseling and support as referred by school social workers.
Adolaize will provide in-service sessions for teachers and staff to encourage mental wellness, self-care, coping and stress management.
We are very passionate about all things mental health and would love the opportunity to provide psychoeducational support to the students and staff within the Baltimore city school system.
